organic

1. Related to living matter.
2. Carbon-based.
3. Often used to describe agricultural products that have been cultivated without the use of pesticides or preservatives. Since agricultural products are organic (living matter) by definition, this leads to confusion, and it seems that many people now think that there is such a thing as an “inorganic carrot, chock-full of pesticides,” an obvious fallacy.
