quackademia

This is a contraction of quackery and academia. It is used to refer to the disgraceful practice of teaching quackery (alternology) such as homoeopathy, acupuncture or chiropractic at universities as if they were legitimate medical professions.

Hungry for money, many universities started courses like this but, probably as a result of lack of evidence and the loss of reputation resulting from teaching unproven or disproven practices and the low quality information (or lack of information altogether) on which these therapies are based, it seems that universities are now on their way to closing these embarrassing departments that are, if nothing else, an insult to human intelligence.
